On 22 September, Just Let Your Soul Grow CIC joined Sunshine Co-operative for a relaxed afternoon of cooking, learning and conversation at Sunshine Corner.
The Plot to Plate session took place in our Sun Room, where participants learned how to make easy, affordable flatbreads and hummus using everyday cupboard ingredients and fresh herbs grown at the Just Let Your Soul Grow Community Garden.
The session was about more than cooking. Participants also discovered which herbs are easy to grow at home and picked up practical tips for growing from seed, whether they have a garden, yard, balcony or simply a windowsill.
The Just Let Your Soul Grow team also shared information about their Seed Library, offering a cost-effective way for local people to start growing their own food and herbs at home.
Alongside the cooking workshop, participants were invited to share their ideas and interests through a community conversation about future cooking demonstrations and workshops. The conversation helped gather suggestions for future community food and growing activities.
The event was funded by The National Lottery through the Just Let Your Soul Grow Sustainable Sunderland Programme.
