At Sunshine
We’ve been operating since 2018 as an online delivery service specialising in organic fruit and veg boxes and locally sourced products. In 2021, Sunshine Corner was born when we set up shop on High Street West, as part of a regenerative building project, bringing life back to a once derelict part of the high street in the Sunniside Quarter. We have continued with our popular delivery service and our shop serves as a community hub.
Based in Sunderland, on High Street West, our shop is reminiscent of times gone by. We’re a community grocery store with a heart. You’re our community; we enjoy getting to know you and what products you like and we welcome your feedback.

We Love Food and Sustainability
We’re ardent food lovers and believe in high quality, sustainably grown and produced food. Our goal is to localise the food chain as much as possible by providing the best our region has to offer. If we can’t find it locally, we’ll look to the UK and beyond.
We offer a unique sustainable shopping experience with a choice of locally sourced products which includes pottery, jewellery and skin care products as well as food and drink. We have a refill station for dry food goods and cleaning and beauty products. Bring your own containers or bottles to fill, but don’t worry if you forget, we’ll help you out with options in-store.
If you don’t wish to order fruit and veg online, preferring to pick them yourselves, we offer a wide range in-store. Unlike supermarkets, you can buy organic produce with little to no packaging and yes, you can buy one apple, one potato and one onion!

Shining in the Community
We are a social enterprise that operates from our community shop. We provide services above and beyond a regular grocery store. We provide access to wholesome food and raise awareness of food sustainability through our delivery service and fruit and veg box scheme and encourage community involvement in food production by supporting volunteering and work experience opportunities. We have a growing plot in the backyard of the shop, produce some healthy food and drink products and support other local growers and producers.
We empower people to make healthy food and well-being choices, promoting local, sustainably grown and produced food to nourish a sense of community between growers, producers and consumers, in order to create a thriving food-system for everyone.
We enable people to come together, to not only enjoy food but learn how to cook and prepare healthy meals to support a healthy lifestyle and share other skills that contribute to their well-being. We make a difference by strengthening the connections we have with our local community.
We provide support to local residents facing barriers to employment as well as offering volunteering opportunities. We also partner with other local social enterprises to provide a wider support network for our participants to ensure they get all the help they need to succeed.
